Amy thought she and Dave would have all they'd ever need in being together. She was wrong. What happens when he asks for a second chance.

It had been a while since Amy had seen Dave. They had split up just before his move to Raw during the 2008 Draft. Since then, for an entire year and just a little over, Amy couldn’t get the man off of her mind.

His tall, dark and handsome looks had won her over in the beginning and now it was those very same looks she missed. No one really knew how much she depressingly missed him, she kept it all bottled up inside and took each day with a new stride.

Amy was going through pictures in her laptop and realized that there was a folder that said ‘Dave and I’. She clicked on it, knowing she would have to endure her own self inflicted torture.

She stared at their pictures. There were good times, happy times, sad times and special moments all captured and saved onto her computer. She looked down at herself. She was in an old button down shirt that used to be his. She slept in it every night. It was wearing thing from being worn frequently. But he had left it and she didn’t have the nerve to send it back or throw it out. Again, no one knew she wore it every night. She always roomed alone on the road.

At some point in time, every day, Amy spills a few tears just because of him. It wasn’t because they broke up because someone cheated or made a mistake. It was because there just wasn’t room for her in his heart anymore. And with him being on a different brand and separate schedule, it never would have worked. She wanted so much from him but he couldn’t give her what she was looking for. It was like he would hide from his feelings. Amy sometimes blamed herself for this or Angie, Dave’s ex-wife. She still held a huge part of him and that wasn’t fair to Amy.

“Never would have worked, right?” She would tell herself. “Bullshit.”

There were so many nights and times that Amy would think and pray that he would come waltzing back through her door and he would say, ‘I should have been chasing you’, ‘I should have been trying to prove that you were all that mattered to me’, or ‘I should have said all the things that I kept inside of me, and maybe I could’ve made you believe that what we had was all we’d ever need.’

Amy’s girlfriend and Diva friends thought she was finally moving on when she had agreed to go out on a couple dates with Shane Helms, but the Southern Charmer that he was, wasn’t enough to sway her mind from Dave Batista. She just wasn’t that strong and Amy’s best friend Tabitha knew that to be so. She knew the truth and the truth was, there was only one Batista, one animal.

Amy and Dave tried being friends and that proved to not be enough. He would write her or email her and she kept them all in a box under her bed. No one knew this but her. Not even Tabitha.

“I hope you’re happy over there.” Amy sniffled as she saw pictures of him out with some of the Raw Diva’s. He looked happy, he seemed happy. She hoped he was. It was just hard for her to be happy.

Checking the WWE website for fun, she saw the headline that had been recently updated.

*News from Monday, September 14, 2009: Batista announces he’s returning to SmackDown!

‘So the rumors are true.’ Amy sighed. She twisted her dark brown with a deep red hue hair into a messy bun. Her sorrows were only about to get harder now. Now, he was coming back to her in a sense but not the way she wanted him to be. She glanced at the clock. It was close to midnight and she figured she should turn in.

She had a staff meeting early in the morning before heading to the arena. Shutting her laptop down for the night, Amy packed it away in her backpack and began getting ready for bed.

As she was brushing her teeth, there was a loud knock on her door. She figured it was Maria who had probably locked herself out of her room again. She didn’t even bother looking through the peep hole.

Flinging open her door, her breath caught as she saw the very tall, dark and handsome man who consumed her thoughts.

“Nice shirt.” He laughed. He had one a pair of sweats and a thermal shirt. The weather in Canada at this time of year was slightly cool. His gym shoes were on his feet.

“H…Hi.” Amy stammered.

“Hey. Can I come in?” He asked.

Only being able to nod, she stepped aside and let him enter her room. She sat on the edge of her bed and he sat down next to her.

“What are you doing here?” She asked suddenly feeling uncomfortable and very underdressed.

“I wanted to talk to you.” Dave answered simply. Amy nodded again.

“Look, with me coming back, I don’t want things to be awkward. But I know they aren’t going to be what they used to be either. We can’t be friends, we know that doesn’t work well.” He started.

“So we shouldn’t talk at all right?” She jumped in.

“Let me finish.” He said sternly, taking her hand in his.

She melted at the feeling. She missed his touch.

“Amy, we’ve been a part a long time. But with me coming back, or being shoved back over here, I see it as a blessing in disguise. I know I was stupid for not giving us a chance when I left here and I have dealt with that burden this whole time. I should have been chasing you. I should have been trying to prove that you were all that mattered to me. Hell, I should have said all the things that I kept inside of me, and maybe I could’ve made you believe that what we had was all we’d ever need. But I didn’t. Instead, I was a chicken shit who couldn’t tell you that I loved you and that I cared so much for you. My girls love you, the boys love you and I love you.”

Amy looked at him in disbelief.

“I love you and I’ll say it again and again. I love you. I have always loved you. I let my fears of what I went through with Angie get the best of me and I hid from what I wanted, letting that fear take over me.”

“You’re making no sense.” She whispered.

“I’m saying I love you and I want another chance. I am begging for another chance.” Dave got down on both his knees, holding her hands in his. He really was begging.

“And if you’re drafted again?” She sniffed. The tears had formed in her eyes the moment she opened her hotel room door and they were now so full that they were threatening to spill over.

“We make it work.” He said seriously.

Amy searched his face and eyes for any hint of false hope. She found none.

“Okay.” She whispered. Immediately his lips were on hers and he was hovering over her.

“I missed you.” He smiled.

“Me too.” She beamed. “More than you know.”

“Believe me, I know.”

That night Dave made love to Amy until the sun came up. And as they finally were beginning to succumb to sleep, he held her tightly in his arms.

“We have all we’d ever need right here.” He whispered and kissed her temple.

“I know.” She replied.
